Hoppas att ni inte blir kinkiga nu - bilen i historien är ju en C h e v y, men historien kommer från min ungdom och är sann.
Riding the Wind
The C h e v y Impala 60 was parked outside, with the wide finned full behind, like a hunched big cat. The raindrops lay over her sheetmetal body like sweatpearls (immediately I thought of a lady, sleeping in my bed with her behind slightly up).
I opened the door and sat down behind the steering wheel, showed the key in the ignition and cranked her up. The engine came to life and she shook the water drops from her body.
I got up on the highway and the green instrument lights seemed to hypnotize me. I imagined hearing a soft whisper; Come on sport, take me for a spin – you’ll love it.
So I speeded up, giving more and more throttle and watched like in a haze, the rise of the speedometer needle; 120, 130, 140. She whined; give it to me, and I did, I floored the pedal. The steady grumble from the V8 became like maddening blacksmiths hammering with heavy sledges against hard anvils. She flow over the blacktop, the tires sang; closer to thee, oh closer to thee my Lord. As the needle steadied just over 180 km, I felt a rush of adrenaline running through my veins. I filled with pure joy and excitement and yelled from the top of my lungs; LORD, I’M THE SON OF WINDS, IF YOU WANT ME, HERE I AM!
The C h e v y really flew, the threes by the roadside looked like a picked fence. The rear end was tossing and turning and we swished in majestic bows over the bumps in the road.
As I saw the curve, I knew that I could never make it in this speed, I pressed down the brake – no difference, and I stood with both feet’s on the brake, pressing all that I could.
The needle crept downwards, but far to slow. Then the rear end tires lost their grip and the C h e v y started to skid over the road. I worked the steering, turning it like a mad roulette wheel, managed to break the skid – I was back in control again!
There came a sickening shrieking sound from the left front wheel as the brake linings vaporised – the car, now with three wheels braking lazily skidded over again and I just rode with it. I thought, I should not have challenged him, the Lord, really I’m done for now!
I don’t know how or why, but the tires suddenly gripped again and I managed to stop her in a skidding tire screeching broadside abrupt halt. I was thrown out of the driver seat slammed on the floor and hitting my nose on the fucking ashtray. With watery eyes, sneezing cigarette ash and snot, I felt the copper taste of blood in my mouth. I cleared my throat and spat out a wad of greyish blood, Ah, what a relief – only a case of noseblood.
As I got my self back in the driver seat, I was trembling and my heart was pounding – to my surprise I had also a stone hard boner I my pants.
